For every pair of Hout Couture wooden sunglasses sold, a seed will be planted through the Eco-Schools Programme, one of the many initiatives supported by WWF-SA and Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA).
The seeds are used to educate children in schools on the importance of trees and “living lightly on our planet” through sustainable practices. They also promote biodiversity. These seeds become indigenous or fruit trees that are then planted on the school grounds. Not only do they provide shade and beauty to the grounds, some of them provide a sustainable source of food too.
